New Skills required by Students

The term, new skills, refers to skills not listed in the current IBO syllabus.

No new skills will be required for any IBO 2007 practical exam. All procedures that students need to be familiar with have been used in IBO practical exams held in the last five years. Please ensure that your students are familiar with the normal laboratory procedures regarding use of gloves, masks and eye protection.

Use of PowerPoint
One task in Practical exam 2 will require students to answer questions based on a PowerPoint presentation.

THEORETICAL EXAMS

Second Call for Questions

Participating countries are reminded that the IBO regulations require each country to submit questions for the theoretical exams to the host country. Accordingly, you are asked to prepare four questions suitable for use in either theoretical exam. The questions should be emailed to me (geoff.hughes@shaw.ca) as soon as possible and not later than February 28, 2007.

The most important requirement of these questions is that they are NOT just knowledge-recall questions, but rather questions which will test a student's ability to reason and problem-solve. As long as the question meets that requirement, the format of the question is less important. However, you are asked to have your questions evaluated by someone who has expertise in development and assessment of exams before sending them.

Please have your questions evaluated by someone who has expertise in development and assessment of exam questions before sending them to me.
